Arctic Snap Moves In For Weekend Temperatures will plunge as low as -5C with snow and frost forecast in many areas.
Severe weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office and low temperatures will feel worse due to the biting wind.
Sky weatherman Francis Wilson said snow was expected in Scotland, the Yorkshire Moors, Lincolnshire and Norfolk on Saturday.
On Sunday, a spell of snow turning to rain would sweep across the North, with the South seeing just rain.
Mr Wilson said: "The weather in Britain this weekend will feel chilly in the wind but there will also be a lot of sunshine."
Temperatures will hit freezing in many areas of Britain on Saturday and plummet to -5C in Scotland.
Maximum temperatures on Saturday will be 4C, rising to 7C on Sunday.
Low pressure over the North Sea is to blame for the two-day cold snap, which will end on Monday.
